Full description
The Associação Comercial do Porto started the construction of the Palácio da Bolsa, its headquarters, and property in 1842. Over three generations, many masters and craftsmen worked to build this architectural jewel of the 19th century in neoclassical style. Great names in architecture, painting, sculpture, and decorative arts contributed to the construction of the building, which is now classified as a National Monument and one of the main attractions of Porto e Norte, receiving more than 450,000 visitors annually. During this 30-minute guided tour with a certified guide from Palacio da Bolsa, you will visit the authentic and impressive rooms of a building that is now over 180 years old, has received governors from almost every country in the world, and which is the location of most of the official state receptions held in the north of Portugal.

This tour was our first to take in on our arrival in Porto. The guides at the Palacio are very informative. Although its open all day until 6:30 pm, be aware and allow yourself time to join if your tour is to be given in a specific language as they begin every 30 mins and if you miss it you have to wait.

This is a spectacular monument that should be on any visitor’s list. We practically skipped doing so due to the mandatory guided tour. Nowhere did I read that the reason one cannot wanders on their own is because the building still serves as a place of work. Employees have important documents on their desks that should not be seen by wandering tourists. Our guide was lovely, witty, and informative. The tour is offered in four languages and the price for the visit and the tour is €10. The Palace is spectacular all around, but the Arab Room steals the cake. Inspired by El Palacio del Alhambra in Granada, Spain the room is beyond mesmerizing. A highly recommended visit.

Palacio da Bolsa is an interesting place in Porto to visit and the overall guided tour is well organized, even at Corona times. Plenty of opportunities to make nice photos. Only drawback: the foreign language tours (in my case, the English tours) are only to very fix fixed times, so you have to be at the place at that fixed time, but it is not clear from the GYG ticket or even from the official Palacia da Bolsa website when the forgeign language tours are scheduled. Self walking tours were not allowed. Hence best is to call the Palacio office in advance to ask for the correct time.
