We arrived at the earliest time, stayed until the finale, and had plenty to see the entire time. There are several bars and food stands set up throughout the gardens with very reasonable prices. Do not attempt to bring in your own food. You’ll be asked to throw it away. If you want to see the fireworks with a full view of the fountains, you should grab your spot an hour in advance.

All worth it. The Versailles palace is astounding in itself and they would astound you more with the marvelous gardens with water fountain shows synchronized in unison to some hair raising classical music. At night Versailles changes itself to a more majestic look with all its lights shimmer the pure night sky. The 15 minute pyrotechnic show is the grandest of it all complemented with the dancing flames on the ground.

Full description

Prepare to be whisked away to the fairytale world of the Palace of Versailles with tickets to the Night Fountain Show as the groves and fountains are decorated with a thousand lights, surreal illuminations, and wonderful bubbles. The Sun King's music follows you all along your stroll.
At the Grand Perspective, admire the elegantly lit statues, topiaries, and pools. From the Green Carpet vibrating in the light of monumental torches to the Ballroom Grove where you can dance a few steps surrounded by thousands of candles, magic is everywhere. See the Mirror Pool where you will be surprised by modern water jets mingling, crossing and embracing to the lights of the Colonnade Grove and the Encelade Grove where you will discover the buried giant  Apollo's Bath.

For a perfect ending to this evening watch as the fireworks magicians offer a royal fireworks display from the Grand Perspective, dazzling you with luminous beauty. To get the best views of the fireworks, sit in the middle of the Garden stairs, in front of the chateau.

Enter the Palace Gardens via the Cour des Princes, accessed by the Cour d'Honneur (Court of Honor). Since parking takes time, it is recommended to arrive one hour in advance.

Know before you go

  • The show is free for children 0-3 years old
  • This is not a seated show
  • The fireworks will start when the sun is down. According to the day of the year, it might be between 10-11 PM
  • The tickets to Chateau de Versailles and parking fees are not included in the ticket price
  • Ticket to the Night Fountains show will be provided
  • Note that the weather might get colder at night, bring some warm clothes as this is an outdoor activity

It was a very nice experience. We arrived at 9 and had a lot of time to take a lot of pictures at golden hour and then another 30-45 minutes to watch the subset (it’s late June). Weather was very nice, great way to see the gardens in summer. My biggest recommendation would be bring a picnic blanket or just be sure to get a few maps as you enter the gardens to sit on while you watch the fireworks.
