It is located in the Castle Square, at the entrance to the Warsaw Old Town. The personal offices of the king and the administrative offices of the Royal Court of Poland were located there from the sixteenth century until the Partitions of Poland. • Palace of Culture and Science is one of the tallest buildings in Warsaw. With a total height of 237 metres (778 ft) it is the tallest building in Poland, the 5th-tallest building in the European Union (including spire) and one of the tallest on the European continent. Constructed in 1955, it houses various public and cultural institutions such as cinemas, theaters, libraries, sports clubs, university faculties, and authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences.  • The Warsaw Uprising Museum in the Wola district of Warsaw, Poland, is dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The institution of the museum was established in 1983, but no construction work took place for many years. It opened on July 31, 2004, marking the 60th anniversary of the uprising. • Life Under Communism Museum feels like a time capsule of communist Poland. It’s meant to let younger generations get a sense of the lives their elders lived within the People’s Republic of Poland. A lot of the material was donated by members of the public, and the collection continues to grow as more donations arrive.

On this unique trip through the legacy of Polish socialism, you will explore Warsaw in a Nysa 522, an original socialist-style van. You will be picked up from your hotel before starting the tour around the places in Warsaw connected with the socialist past, where you can experience this era in Polish history for yourself. The tour starts at Plac Konstytucji (Constitution Square), the first square ever to be built especially for the working people. Here you will feel the propaganda of the socialist era before heading on to the Ministry of Agriculture, where you will have the chance to learn about the utopian plans of the post-war city reconstruction. The next stop on the tour is at the Palace of Culture and Science, where you can learn about this gift from “Uncle” Stalin. You will then continue on to the very heart of socialism, the old seat of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party. You will also visit a typical housing estate and enter a flat furnished in the socialist style. Here you will be invited to taste a typical refreshment of the workers from the socialist era – a shot of vodka and a slice of bread with lard and pickles. Have you seen the top attractions in Warsaw and want something more? Are you bored with the touristy places and feel like adding some new thrills to your stay in the city? Then take this unique bus tour to the “dark side” of Warsaw – the infamous Praga district. Find out why the district was considered the most dangerous part of Warsaw. See a marketplace where you could buy almost everything from jeans and diplomas to Kalashnikov rifles and check yourself if it’s still open. Every Saturday morning (at 11:00 AM) in front of the Palace of Culture and Science, there will be a retro Jelcz “cucumber” bus to take you to the Praga district for a 2.5-hour tour. On-board, there will be a guide to help you through the district and to make sure you come back in one piece. On the road, your guide will provide commentary and introduce you to the history of Warsaw and the Praga district - a district of an amusing yet sometimes scary past. After crossing the Vistula River, you will get off at the first stop – a chocolate factory. Here, get to know the story of the company producing sweets in Warsaw since the mid-19th century and taste a cup of their delicious hot chocolate. The next stop will be Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus which is one of the most impressive religious buildings in Warsaw. Educational and informative! The guide squeezed in a lot of information within a small.space of 45mins trip. I learnt a lot about the history of Warsaw and this impressive bundling. The helicopter view of the city from terrace was exquisite. I took plenty of pics even though it was damm freezing cold!
