We drove to the Wharangai Falls in a minibus with our driver Karthik, who gave us all sorts of information, and then we were able to see the Hundertwasser toilet in Kawakawa before we reached Paihia after about 3.5 hours and were able to board the excursion boat. The trip then went first to Russell, where we did not get off, and then past some beautiful island bays to the Hole in the Rock, which we drove through. Very nice! This boat trip lasted about 1.5 hours, and then we drove to Otehei Bay, where we had another 1.5 hour stop and had the opportunity to swim or eat or drink in the island restaurant. Overall it was a very nice trip with great weather, turquoise water and beautiful islands.
