Marrakech: 3-Day Merzouga and Sahara Desert Tour
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorges The journey from Marrakech to Todra Gorge via Kasbah Ait Benhaddou is a popular route for those seeking to experience the beauty and history of Morocco’s desert landscapes. Starting in Marrakech, the drive takes you through the High Atlas Mountains, passing through small Berber villages and stunning scenery along the way. One of the highlights of the trip is a stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, an ancient fortress town that has been used as a backdrop for many Hollywood films. The kasbah is a fascinating example of traditional Moroccan architecture and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Continuing on from Kasbah Ait Benhaddou to arrive at the Todra Gorge. This spectacular natural wonder features towering canyon walls that rise up to 300 meters in places, providing a breathtaking backdrop for hiking, climbing, and sightseeing. Day 2: Boumalne Dadès – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Dunes of Merzouga The journey from Boumalne to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes is a breathtaking adventure through the Moroccan Sahara Desert and the views of the canyon at Todra Gorge. The drive takes you through spectacular landscapes, including barren mountains, verdant palm groves, and vast expanses of golden sand dunes. Along the way, you’ll pass through charming Berber villages and experience the warm hospitality of the local people. As you approach Merzouga, the landscape becomes increasingly surreal, with towering sand dunes rising up from the desert floor. Upon arriving in Merzouga, you can take a camel trek into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness the stunning sunset over the Sahara.
