Break up your journey from Oslo to Bergen by exploring the Hardangervidda plateau, home to scenic landscapes and waterfalls. Ride the train from Oslo to Geilo by yourself, then meet your driver-guide in Geilo and visit the Vøringfossen waterfall and more on the remaining bus journey to Bergen. Start your tour with a scenic train ride (ticket not included) from Oslo to Geilo. Sit back and relax on a journey through some of Norway's most breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, pass through charming towns and villages that give you insight into Norway's rich history and culture. Get off the train when it arrives in Geilo, then look for the bus, which has enough space for 1 suitcase per person. You will have a bit of time to use the public toilets, shops, and restaurants at Geilo Station before the bus departs. Then, set off in air-conditioned comfort on an adventure through the Hardangevidda mountain plateau, home to the largest reindeer population in Europe. The highest point in the Hardangevidda is about 1500 meters above sea level, and some of the last snow doesn't thaw here until August. After just a few minutes' drive, see the landscape change dramatically as you ascend the plateau far above the tree line. Stop at the Vøringfossen waterfall, a breathtaking natural wonder with a total drop of 182 meters. Spend around 30 minutes at the waterfall, admiring its beauty and the surrounding landscapes. Use this time to make use of the public toilets and visit the cozy cafe in the Fossli Hotel, too. Next, drive into the valley to the charming village of Eidfjord. Continue along the fjord until you pass through a tunnel and reach the Hardanger Bridge, a 55-meter-tall, 1,380-meter-long engineering feat that was the longest bridge in Norway and the 10th-longest in the world when it opened. Over the bridge, pass through Øystese, a small village situated along the Hardangerfjord known for its stunning natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. The last stop will be at the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall, which has a height of about 50 meters. Take a walk directly behind the falling water without getting wet, and enjoy time to visit the cozy café and souvenir store. Afterward, board the bus again and complete the remaining journey to Bergen, which takes about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, you'll be dropped off in the center of the city.

We're on a mission to swiftly escape the city center. Following the path of the Akerselva River, we delve deeper into nature, making our way toward Maridalen. Stops include Aamot Bridge, known for its unique history, and Mølla waterfall, where we'll explore the river's industrial past. Frysja, which translates to 'frothy' in Old Norse, is our last urban stop before immersing ourselves in the Nordmarka forests. We journey along gravel roads, reaching Hammeren, and ascend to Ullevålseter, the perfect midway point for coffee and buns. (Please note: Ullevålseter is closed on Mondays, so we may stop at Frognerseteren instead.) The adventure continues uphill, granting us panoramic vistas over Nordmarka and Skjærsjøen before a thrilling downhill ride back to the city. Short stops at Frognerseteren, Holmenkollen Kirke, and the Holmenkollen Ski Jump provide a taste of Oslo's iconic landmarks. As we cycle through residential areas, we follow the old paths of the Malm industry carriers along Ankerveien. A tranquil gravel track takes us through Mærradalen, followed by peaceful side streets leading to Skøyen. From Skøyen, we trace the coastal cycle path, passing Frognerkilen, Aker Brygge, Akershus Festning, before returning to our starting point. Fitness Level: Our electric bikes make this trip accessible to all, regardless of your fitness level. You'll encounter hilly terrain on both asphalt and gravel roads, covering a total distance of 42 km (26 miles). Get ready for a memorable journey through Oslo's captivating landscapes!
