  • Visit the Donkey Sanctuary and help save the Aruban donkey
  • Interact with over 50 different species of rescued animals at Philip's Animal Garden
Full description
On this family-friendly animal encounter tour, first visit the Aruba Ostrich Farm. Meet its 80- count flock of the largest living species of bird in the world. Visitors are encouraged to partake in a guided tour of the farm, inhabited by both ostriches and their flightless Australian relatives, emus. The tour provides the opportunity to learn about the natural behavior and survival instincts of these amazing creatures through detailed information as well as personal encounters with the birds. Next you will get the opportunity to mingle with some real locals at the Donkey Sanctuary. Founded in 1997 as a non-profit and completely volunteer run organization, their mission is simple: save the donkeys. Although not originally native to the small island of Aruba, they have existed here for 500 years having been the primary mode of transportation until cars began to be introduced on the island in increasing numbers. At that point, many Arubans no longer had the need for their formerly beloved donkey, and sadly in the 1970s, a dangerous and rapidly spreading illness nearly caused their extinction leaving behind a population of only 20 wild donkeys. Lastly, visit Philip’s Animal Garden. After years of saving and adopting abused and abandoned animals, Philip Merryweather has turned his love for animals into a world-class shelter and rehabilitation center. Philip’s Animal Garden is offering up interactive and educational tours, where you can enjoy an up-close and personal experience with over 50 species of exotic animals from around the world. Visitors are invited to see, touch and even feed some of the garden’s inhabitants.

This was a great tour to get to see 3 of the animal attractions on the island. Much easier than renting a car and cheaper than taking a taxi to each location. The donkey sanctuary was a delight. Really fun to feed and pet the donkeys and learn about the history of them. Ostrich farm was great. Seeing and feeding them, our guide there was very informative and fun. the baby ostrich is adorable. The animal park is a nice walk around feeding some animals and just looking at others. I appreciate they don't allow the animals that need special diets to just eat anything. Our tour guide (I'm so sorry I've forgotten your name) was great. Gave us lots of info in a casual friendly way. Felt like being shown the island by a real friend. Our group was super small, just 4 of us which was great because it felt like a private tour without the cost and I'm happy they didn't cancel because they didn't reach a minimum participant #. Overall 5 star and I would book more thru thru this company

We were picked up promptly at our hotel lobby. The unique landscape of Aruba makes these tours worth more. The donkey sanctuary and the ostrich farm gives the vibe that we are far away in a remote area. Compared to other attractions like casibiri or natural bridge there is less crowd here. It is a good thing. You can enjoy the nature without any rush.

This is by far one of my best experiences since arrivng to Aruba. Nano is an awesome tour guide and answered all our questions and gave us history on a personal level from his own experience. What Peter and Philip are doing for rescue animals that would otherwise be left to suffer is heartwarming and appreciated beyond words. I adopted a donkey at the Donkey Sanctary and my heart is full. Definitely add this trip to your agenda while visiting this marvelous island!
