Dubrovnik: Full-Day Total Game of Thrones Experience

Dubrovnik: Full-Day Total Game of Thrones Experience

Witness firsthand why Dubrovnik was chosen to take a major role in 'Game of Thrones' and which locations were used for the unforgettable part which you will visit on this tour. Year 2011 was important in Dubrovnik because that was when HBO decided Dubrovnik will get another alter ego – King’s Landing, the capital city of the Seven Kingdoms. Just before the filming started in Dubrovnik, 'Game of Thrones' was already well-known and popular and the entire show definitely contributed to the overall destination reputation. It was only a matter of time when other big filming companies were to film in Dubrovnik – Star Wars came along, Robin Hood, Knightfall, Bollywood, and probably many more in the future. The tour will start with a visit to one of the oldest arboretums in this part of Europe, located just 15 kilometers from Dubrovnik which was used as one of the filming locations. Afterwards, you will cover the sites at Mount Srdj, where you will have the best view of King’s Landing, the highest point above Dubrovnik. Then, head to Dubrovnik Old Town, St. Lawrence Fort and finally, to Lokrum Island by boat. Lokrum is where you will finish the tour. It also has the Iron Throne. Take your photo on the Iron Throne and show to the world who the true ruler of King’s Landing is.

Dubrovnik: Game of Thrones&Lokrum Island Walking Tour

Dubrovnik: Game of Thrones&Lokrum Island Walking Tour

See why Dubrovnik was chosen as the filming location for King's Landing on a Game of Thrones themed tour of the city. In the show, Dubrovnik is the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, and it serves as the perfect setting for a captivating imaginary world. This tour will take you to Old Town, Lovrijenac (Red Keep), and Lokrum Island (City of Qarth). See where some of Game of Throne's most intense, plot-twisting moments were filmed. Then, board a ferry and visit Lokrum Island, which has been turned into a Game of Thrones visitor center. It's here that you can see the Iron Throne, gifted to Dubrovnik by HBO, and take a photo with it. The island is Dubrovnik's green jewel and many locals relax here after a long summer's day. Peacocks and bunnies are the island's only residents and they are very friendly. The tour finishes on the island and you can decide whether you'd like to return to Old Town or spend the rest of the day on the island. If you choose the latter, bring along your swim gear, a towel, and sunscreen to enjoy the beautiful rocky beaches. Keep in mind that all visitors must leave the island with the last ferry at the latest. Overnight stays are not allowed. The island is a protected forest reserve.

We were the only one to show up, ended up becoming a Private Tour. Our tour guide Marko did a phenomenal job showing us the wonders of the Dubrovnik city walls. His knowledge and infectious enthusiasm made the tour an absolute delight from start to finish. Marko regaled us with fascinating tales of the city's rich history as we walked atop the ancient fortifications, painting a vivid picture of Dubrovnik through the ages. During the tour, he has quizzed us at various points to see how much we were learning, keeping us involved and attentive throughout. With his interesting storytelling, insights, and personable demeanor, Marko transformed a simple wall walk into an unforgettable journey through Dubrovnik's storied history.

Amazing tour. Our Guide Alessandra was not only knowledgeable and funny but bought the tour to life with the tour party taking on historical Roman characters to help explain the events of 2000 years ago. Skipping the lines was also a real bonus as it was busy. Would thoroughly recommend taking this trip. Best Regards Vespasian and his crazy horse son Domitian!! Aka Tim and Josh
