Okatse Canyon

The tour begins at 09:00 from our office in Kutaisi, where we gather for an exciting day ahead. Our first destination is the majestic Okatse Canyon, Georgia's deepest canyon. It features hanging bridges and skywalks offering unparalleled views of the canyon below. Access to the bridges is available via a scenic 6 km trek or an adventurous off-roading taxi ride. Following Okatse Canyon, we proceed to the breathtaking Martvili Canyon. Here, we embark on a boat tour that navigates through the canyon, allowing us to explore its depths and admire stunning waterfalls. An optional zip line offers a thrilling aerial perspective of the canyon's beauty. After these exhilarating explorations, we take a leisurely break for lunch at a local restaurant, indulging in delicious Georgian cuisine and preparing for the the final part of the tour ahead. Our final stop is the magnificent Prometheus Cave, an underground marvel stretching 1.4 km and located 80 meters below the surface. The cave showcases stunning formations and includes a unique Hall of Love, where couples have even tied the knot. Visitors can enjoy a serene underground boat ride or opt for an open-air boating experience, ensuring a truly unforgettable visit. As the day draws to a close, we return to Kutaisi around 19:00, filled with cherished memories and a profound appreciation for the natural wonders we've encountered throughout the day. In the morning, our guide will meet you at the meeting point and you will start a tour of beautiful natural monuments near Kutaisi! First, you will visit Martvili Canyon, enjoying views of the mountain river, natural stone bridges & waterfalls. One of the top highlights at Martvili Canyon is the short boat ride (approx. 15 min.) in the turquoise river, where you'll enjoy close views of the canyon & maybe spot fishes in the clear river water. Note: Boat service doesn't work if the water level is too high or the currents are too strong, usually it could happen in spring or after heavy rain. You will drive to the Okatse Canyon, here you will hike approximately 2.5 km from the ticket office to the canyon entrance, on a stone paved road through Duke's Dadiani forest. You will walk 900 steps on a panoramic hanging bridge & enjoy views of nature, especially in the spring and summer seasons, surrounded by lush green forest. After taking beautiful photos and a short rest on the panoramic bridge, you will continue hiking back 2.5 km approximately to the car. Note: You can rent a 4x4 vehicle for an extra fee from the visitor center to the canyon entrance if you don't wish to hike, but will have to wait for the rest of the group at the visitor center. After visiting the canyon, you will have the possibility to have a traditional Georgian sweets "Churchkhela" masterclass free of charge (if the local Churchkhela factory will be open). You will take the car to the spectacular Prometheus cave, where you will walk in a beautiful stalactite and stalagmite cave on an easy 1,5-kilometer route with impressive natural halls, here the group will be accompanied by the local guide, who will tell us in detail about the cave. Before returning to Kutaisi you will have a short stop at once famous and now-abandoned Tskaltubo Sanatorium or a bathhouse where Soviet leaders once used to relax (please keep in mind that some Tskaltubo sanatoriums are being sold and entrance might be restricted). After an active day, in the evening you will come back to Kutaisi, drop of at the meeting point.

Prometheus Cave may regard as the visit card of Georgia. The magic cave is full with stunning curtains of stalactites and stalagmites. While visiting, once again it will convince you about existence of the fairy world. Enjoy first hanging trail called Okatse Canyon and have a feeling as if you are walking 2-3 hours directly in the sky. The pedestrian trail passes through Dadiani historic forests, thus enjoy hiking and 780 meters length hanging trail. The last destination is a panoramic view, where visitors have chance to take photos by smart camera installed on the area. Martvili Canyon is located in the village Inchkhuri. 700 meters circular hiking trail starts from the visitors' centre and passes through Dadiani's historic walkway. There are 2 bridges, 3 viewing platforms, and 30-step historic staircase that is built from limestone staircase. Here you have the opportunity to take a trip by boat, 300 meters (one way) section of Abasha and enjoy the beautiful views of canyon.

Important: Okatse Canyon is closed till the end of May. Alternatively we may visit Okatse waterfall or Sataflia natural reserve. See the most spectacular canyons in Georgia on a day tour from Kutaisi. The tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel, so you don't have to worry about finding a meeting point. First Stop - Okatse Canyon. Main sightseeing is the hanged bridges over the Canyon. Total length of the bridge 900 meters. Total distance to walk 1500 meters including the trail back. The Next stop is Martvili Canyon, which is about 1 hour drive from Okatse. At Martvili Canyon they offer 2 kinds of activities. 1. Walking along the waterfalls - main ticket and (2) boating through the Canyon, which is optional. At the time of rain, boating is not available. Walking distance is 700 meters and takes about 40-50 minutes. Boating - 20 minutes. Close to 4 p.m. we reach Prometheus Cave. They offer 2 kinds of activities. Walking through Cave, which takes approximately 1 hour and optional boat ride - 15 minutes. At the end we will stop at the Abandoned Sanatorium of Soviet Times in City of Tskaltubo, once famous Spa Resort.

Canyon tour is the most popular one around Kutaisi. The tour starts in the morning at 9 a.m. at your desired point. First - Okatse canyon offers different and magnificent views, picturesque nature is mixed with extreme feelings. Hanged bridges at 150 meters height which has transparent floor leaves no one indifferent. On the way form visitors center to canyons there is walking tour(2.5km) across the beautiful nature in the woods. In case you prefer a drive there is option of hiring off-road vehicles provided by locals. Next, Martvili canyon, after about 1 hour drive we will get to Martvili canyon. The most popular attraction there, is boat trip. After which you can walk through unforgettable nature and take pictures. Nearby is zipline, too. Next stop, after 5 minutes drive there is Martvili dam and Ogueshi waterfall, there is possibility of swimming in good weather. Then, we will drive to Tskaltubo(1 hour drive). We will visit popular Prometheus cave, where there is a group guided tour by a local guide. After one hour excursion there are two optional exits from the cave: by motor boat or on foot. Next stop, abandoned Sanatorium Medea, spring N6, which was built specially for Stalin and abandoned spring N9. The trip approximately ends after 7 p.m. Take into consideration, in case of rain some of the destinations may be closed.

Martvili and Okatse destinations are best known for attracting visitors with their world class beauty of canyons. Okatse Canyon is one of the most picturesque sights in the Kutaisi area. Main highlight of the Okatse canyon is a long staircase down, followed by a narrow steel walkway that runs along the walls of the canyon, hanging above canyon and providing panoramic view. This is visitors favorite spot for bird watching and taking selfies. This platform offers the best view of the surrounding nature and the Okatse River below, which flows along the bottom of the canyon. Martvili Canyon is a picturesque landmark of water and rocks, located 50km west of Kutaisi. This natural landmark attracts many tourists who want to experience the contrast between the tranquil river and the dynamic waterfalls. In the middle of the canyon there is a large 12 m waterfall, from which tons of water fall every second. The main highlight of the Martvili Canyon is boating to the waterfalls. Inflatable boats, life jackets and helmets at the pier hint at white water rafting, but boating the canyon is a pleasant, easy trip, and the equipment is just a safety precaution. The length of the route the boats take along the river is about 1 km, and the trip takes about 15-20 minutes (including photo stops). Atmosphere is quiet and very pleasant and the river between canyons is breathtaking.

- Day 1: Canyons & Cave The tour starts from Kutaisi at 09:00. First, visit Okatse Canyon, Georgia's deepest canyon with exciting sky walks and hanging bridges accessible by a 6 km trek or off-road taxi. Then, enjoy a boat ride through Martvili Canyon, admiring waterfalls and beautiful landscapes. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, discover Prometheus Cave, 80 meters below ground. Explore its 1.4 km length, including the Hall of Love and underground boat rides. Return to Kutaisi by 19:00 filled with amazing experiences from the day. Overnight in Kutaisi - Day 2: Batumi & Mtirala Hike The tour starts at 08:00 from our office in Kutaisi. In Batumi, we begin with a walking tour visiting Europe Square, Piazza Square, the Church of St. Nicholas, Batumi Port, the moving statue of Ali & Nino, and the Alphabet Tower. We stroll through Dancing Fountains Park and end at the Drama Theatre and Neptune statue. After a boat ride along Batumi Beach until 1 p.m., we have lunch at a local restaurant. Then, we head to Mtirala National Park, where we cross the river on a cable-car and hike 3 km to waterfalls. After enjoying the park, we return to Kutaisi by 20:00 filled with an unforgettable memories. - Day 3: Borjom - Kharagauli National Park Hike The tour begins at 09:00 from our office in Kutaisi. Our first stop is in Surami, where we taste Georgian sweet bread called "Nazuki" and observe its traditional preparation. Next, we visit the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park Visitor Center to obtain hiking permits. We typically hike the Footprints trail; if it's unavailable, we explore similar routes. Lunch is self-prepared, so please bring lunch boxes and water on the tour. After completing the hike, we return to Kutaisi by van, arriving back in the city by 23:00. Overnight in Kutaisi - Day 4: Racha & Tskhrajvari Hike The tour begins at 09:00 from our office in Kutaisi. Our first stop is the highlight of the tour - Tskhrajvari mountain. We hike to the summit at 1590 meters to visit the Church of St. George. From the peak, you can enjoy panoramic views of Western Georgia and Kutaisi. After the rewarding hike, we drive to the Racha region, stopping at Nakerala Pass for magnificent views of both Imereti and Racha. Continuing our journey, we arrive at the shores of Shaori Lake for a picnic in the wilderness. We provide hot tea, coffee, and mats for sitting, while guests bring their own food. Fishing and swimming are options at the lake. After lunch, we visit the 11th-century Nikortsminda Church and then head to Sairme Pillar for another short, yet challenging hike. Finally, we return to Kutaisi, concluding the tour at 18:00 at our office. Overnight stay in Kutaisi.
