Everything is designed for children aged 3-10 years. Therefore adults must be accompanied by at least one child to get access.

Where workers high up filled the boiling blast furnace in the biting wind or down below, protected only by hats and gloves, opened the tap hole, there was hellish noise, poisonous gases and sticky dust that ate into the lungs. The history of the Meiderich ironworks, the technology and working conditions are told expertly and clearly on this tour. Follow the “Path of the Iron” through the blast furnace from the “Gout” to the “Torpedo Ladle Car”. Be impressed by the sheer confusing multitude of scaffolding, pipes, boilers, stairs and platforms. Here the great importance of this industrial monument for the mining industry can be felt first-hand. Today, the new use makes the Meidericher Hütte a symbol of the structural change in the region. For almost two hours you will be immersed in the field of smelting and industrial history, blast furnace technology and a busy cultural site. The tour is not barrier-free.

This tour is only available in German. The "Chicago of the Ruhr" was the nickname given to Oberhausen when it was founded. This industrial city amazes its visitors. On this tour you will discover how surprisingly diverse Oberhausen's inner city is: wonderfully green and with architecture worth seeing. Even Oberhausen residents can become explorers here. This tour takes you through several parks. You will also come across unexpected beauties such as the court house, town hall and a former department stores', see great cinemas and famous actors. And, of course, you'll keep coming across traces of industrialisation, without which the Ruhr would not be the Ruhr. There are fun tasks and tricky questions at the tour stops. Pay attention and look carefully, then you will know for example, why a school looks like a church. Starting at the main station, the tour takes you in a round trip through the pedestrian zone, to hidden details in supposedly familiar places and visit the funniest selfie spot in Oberhausen. Then it's back through the Marienviertel to the main station. It's like being shown Oberhausen's city centre by a good friend. The tour is a great way to get out and discover new things with family, friends or even on your own. The walk is about 3.5 km long and takes about 2 hours (depending on your pace). When ordering, you can choose between three road books with different levels of difficulty, depending on how old the treasure hunters are. When you start your adventure is up to you: you can pick up the road book at the visitor center during opening hours. The reward is definitely a treasure that has something to do with the landscape park and the ironworks.
