Full description
The adventure begins at 8 am, when the sun is barely peeking over the horizon and the promise of a day full of wonder is about to begin. We'll pick you up from the comfort of your hotel or airbnb and drive you through the picturesque roads that wind through the beautiful Oaxacan landscape. Our first stop will be the majestic Tule Tree, an ancient giant that has seen centuries of history go by. Its branches rise towards the sky as guardians of secrets and legends, leaving you amazed by the magnitude of nature. Later, we will enter the Archaeological Zone of Mitla. The stones whisper tales of ancient civilizations that once roamed these lands. You can feel the energy of footsteps that echoed here centuries ago as you explore the courtyards and the intricate mosaic designs that adorn the walls. Our next stop will take you to the Petrified Waterfalls of Hierve el Agua. Water has carved the rock over centuries, creating formations that seem frozen in time. Here you can marvel at the unique beauty of nature while you immerse yourself in the natural pools that will give you panoramic views that will take your breath away. We'll take a break at a buffet restaurant serving authentic Oaxacan food. Traditional flavors merge in each bite, filling you with energy to continue the day full of exploration and discovery. In Teotitlán del Valle, you will witness the skill and passion of local artisans. Here, time seems to have stopped while the looms come to life and the colors dance in each thread, creating authentic works of art. To culminate this unforgettable trip, we will go to an authentic Palenque de Mezcal. Its aromas and unique flavors will transport you to the very essence of Oaxaca. Enjoy a tasting that will enliven your senses and will provide you with a true gift for the palate. Our tour will come to an end around 7 pm, when the sun goes down on the horizon. We will leave you in the lobby of your hotel or airbnb, with your hearts full of memories and shared experiences. When booking with Enjoy Oaxaca, you not only ensure your place on this magical journey, but you also benefit from first-class service. Admissions to Mitla, Hierve el Agua, and Tule are included, as well as transportation in a comfortable air-conditioned van, seat belts, travel insurance, certified guide, and driver. Great tour! Ede was engaging, enthusiastic and wonderful. We hit all the spots on the tour and then some. It was a long day but the bus was comfortable and we had lunch at a great place which was good value for money and had a good mix of locals and tourist. Overall amazing tour

The tour was fantastic from start to finish. Picked up at my airbnb (not just rendezvous at a hotel) in a comfortable air-conditioned van. We were 8 in total, so the van was the perfect size - seats 14. Our guide, Edelmira, provided full commentary in English & Spanish, as we were 50-50 split. Learning the history and cultural stories as we travelled to El Tule & Mitla, we then had free time at Hierve el Agua to wander the hills, soak in the water and relax. The buffet was delicious, with lots of choices. The textile business in Teotitlán del Valle was amazing! Such a great presentation there. And finishing up with a tour of a Mezcal factory and a full tasting. Excellent all around. Coming home, the traffic was bad (Friday night in Oaxaca City!) but our driver did an exceptional job of getting us all back safely. All in all, 11 hours of great fun.

Hierve el Agua was an impressive geological site and worth the long trip. Having seen Monte Alban the day before, Mitla, while a significant ruin, paled in comparison. The textile workshop and mezcal distillery were both interesting and informative. The buffet was so-so, surprising considering all the other delicious food we’ve had in and around Oaxaca. But Luis our guide was the real highlight. He’s a treasure!
