This was a fantastic way to see Oaxaca and get a sense for the local food! We began by taking a walking tour of the neighborhood (close to the centro but less touristy which was nice) and went to the market with our guide who allowed us to try different foods and spices. We also learned about the different trees in the area. When we got back we were introduced to the ingredients and began cooking. We cooked quite a few dishes including mole, memelas, salad, and Mexican gnocchi - though our guide told us the menu changes each class. For me it felt less like a cooking class and more like a cooking experience. We were all doing different things which made it hard to learn how to duplicate the recipes. However, I enjoyed this as it was a really fun way to spend a few hours. It was a delicious meal and was nice to eat together at the end. If you are looking to get to know a bit more about the food and history of Oaxaca in a hands on (and delicious) way, try this class!

This cooking class was amazing, although it is a vegetarian class the master chef does make accomodations if anyone is vegan. It started with a cup of coffee and then we walked to the mercado and saw some native fruit trees along the way. At the mercado it gets a bit chaotic as the chef works to buy all the ingredients needed for the meal but he gives you the opportjnity to buy anything you might want for yourself as well. While actually cooking, the chef had us divide tasks to prepare our meal. We had a salad, memelas, and a yellow mole, it was one of mu favorite meals while in oaxaca. He also gives you all the recipes you cooked after the class. It was a great experience and i learned some cooking techniques. The only negative thing i have to say is that the kitchen they use for the class is quite small and it gets a bit crowded and at times there arent enough things to do for everyone. But everything else was great.

This was a pretty cool activity overall. We met up with the host and he gave us coffee or tea. Once we finished we took a relaxed stroll to the market where we learned about the different types of native trees along the way. At the market, we shopped with the guide and got to learn about new spices. Once we had picked up all the ingredients we went back and cooked up a storm. The food was good and I tried various new things. The guide was friendly and welcoming My only complaint was that we made so many dishes that we all had different tasks during the cooking process. This resulted in not really learning how to make any new dishes just a couple of steps in each dish.

The Mezcal tasting was really interesting we had the opportunity to learn about the mezcal and had a great time tasting really good types of mezcal. The place is really well located and really nice. An experience that totally worths it to learn about mezcal.

Geraldo was great. Market shopping so amazing! His home was beautiful and inviting and we loved cooking traditional Oaxaca food.
