What people are saying about Nukus

This was a superb day. The drive is long 5 hours each way but the driver split it up really well. 2 hours drive then dawn climbing the fort in the middle of the desert, which was spectacular, then another hour or so to the cemetery (driver filled with gas at this point to save time). Another 2 hours and we arrived at the Aral Sea - the video gave it context, seeing the abandoned ships was interesting but it was walking down into the Aral Sea Bed and realising what had happened that was the best. We then had 2hours drive to late lunch and then the 3 hours back but with sunset views on the road. So it was only the last 1.5 hours that dragged a little but you can sleep as the car had head rest pillows that are comfortable.

Overall very positive experience. The driver was very friendly and helpful, obeys traffic rules very correctly, so we always felt ourselves safe during entire trip. The trip itself is quite long time needed because of the distance to Muynak and poor quality of road surface. Aral Sea museum in Muynak is must to visit and watch their movie about Aral Sea great past. So, if you have a free day when visiting Khiva it is a good idea to take this trip.
