Cairns: 2-Day Barrier Reef Pontoon & Fitzroy Island Tour
Day 1 will take you to the newest and most technologically advanced pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef. The all-weather Reef Magic Pontoon is designed and built for a sustainable future. At over 1003sqm, with a capacity of 450 guests, with numbers kept to a maximum of 250, our guests can escape the crowd and enjoy the reef. With loads of activities for all ages, you can snorkel in the sheltered coral lagoon, join our Marine Biologists on a Guided Snorkel Safari, try Scuba Diving or even Sea Trek Helmet Diving. With a unique and easy water entry point for swimming and snorkelling, a fully functioning scientific lab for reef research and projects, our Reef Magic pontoon has been built with the future in mind. Some fun activities you can experience include: Intro and certified diving, guided snorkel tours, one of the largest helmet diving circuits on the Great Barrier Reef and a huge sundeck with sun loungers. Beginner snorkellers can feel comfortable with an array of colourful corals and incredible fish able to be seen without even letting go of the platform or by exploring the nearby coral gardens the home of ‘Wally’ the world famous maori wrasse. For those wanting to stay dry, you can experience the reef via the semi submarine, glass bottom boats or the state of the art underwater observatory where fish feeding displays are given throughout the day with an interpretive commentary. Day 2 A cruise to Fitzroy Island lets you experience the rainforest, the Great Barrier Reef and a tropical island all in the one day from Cairns. Our full day Great Barrier Reef cruise aboard our fast catamaran takes just 45 minutes and travels along the coastline rather than heading out into the open ocean. Nudey Beach on the Island was #1 top-ranked spot on Brad Farmer’s list of Australia’s 101 Best Beaches for 2018! Unlike smaller coral cays or sandy islands on the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy was once part of mainland Australia. The island is largely untouched and a protected National Park, with walking tracks through the rainforest, heathland and open forest to Nudey Beach and the Summit.
