4. Full Day Klaipeda & The Curonian Split Shore Excursion

You will meet your professional guide and driver who will whisk you away to the Curonian Spit – a 98-km-long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. Famous for its massive dunes and ‘dancing trees’ the spit was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Its southern portion lies within Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, and its northern portion is within southwestern Lithuania. Visit Juodkrantė, a quiet seaside resort and the second-largest settlement on Lithuania's part of the spit. Explore the Hill of Witches - a sculpture park that has more than 70 wooden figures, most of which are based on the country’s legends and folk tales. Next, discover Nida, the ‘Lithuanian Sahara’, noted for its magnificent 50-60 meter high sand dunes. Nida is an upmarket holiday resort that boasts beautiful beaches and interesting attractions, such as the fisherman's ethnographic museum, gallery-museum of amber, and a German Protestant (Evangelische) Brick Gothic church. See where German written Thomas Mann built his summer house – now a museum to his life - before enjoying some free time to further explore the area or eat lunch in one of the nearby cafes. After lunch, your bus will take you back to Klaipeda port, where you can reboard your ship, or take some time to visit Klaipėda's beautiful Old Town, only a few minutes away. Maria was a great guide and gave us a lot of knowledge. Since we (2) were looked after by Maria alone, she was completely attuned to us, which made it feel like a private tour. After three hours of intensive input, however, our mental capacity was exhausted, so the length of the event was perfect for us. Everything was very well organized, gene again.

Our tour guide Werner responded perfectly to us and gave us a lively and impressive introduction to the Curonian Spit, including its history and language. Many thanks to him, it was a wonderful day. Picking up from and returning to the hotel worked without any problems, the processing via GetYourGuide went smoothly.

Nice trip, but could be more information in the description abaut practical arrangements - e.g. long distance walkings. Company should improve transport arrangements - they are using city taxi which is rather noisy thus not so easy follow guide information.

We saw a lot in the space of a day. The area is very beautiful and worthy of a visit. Highly recommend the Amber Museum tour (audio in English available). Witches Hill was a surprisingly fun portion of the visit - great to hike among the trees.

Very well organized and very interesting tour. We have enough free time in Tallinn. I recommend.
