What People Are Saying About Notre-Dame Cathedral
Booked this tour through GetYourGuide, and the tour company hosting the tour was Cultival. It was a little chaotic at the start as there were so many people waiting around the entrance to the tower gates. The tour starts with an explanation about the cathedral before we begin the climb of the 400 steps to the top. The view across Paris is breath-taking, even three-quarter way up the tower. One small frustration was with roughly 20 people on the tour, hearing the tour guide was a bit difficult. After the last 100 or so steps we were rewarded with a view of Paris tinged by the first rays of the setting sun. The guide pointed out the key buildings and areas of Paris, giving a brief description of the arrondissements and the city layout. The tour finished up with us capturing pictures of the setting sun over Paris.
We got the 3 day ticket and would recommend this if you have the time. Sometimes the traffic is heavy in the city centre so it takes a while to get to attractions. This would be the same in a car or taxi though. We got the subway sometimes also but definitely felt safer on the tour bus.
This was booked as a birthday treat for my sister and, as requested, the 2 CV displayed the appropriate number. Generated a considerable amount of interest from passers by as we drove past. Seeing the sights of Paris in this iconic car was an experience not to be forgotten. Not a great deal of padding in the back seat but somehow it added to the experience. Our guide Eric was lovely and very knowledgeable; making us aware of the history of some of the buildings that we would never have known about otherwise. Time was allowed for taking photographs. Would highly recommend this trip.
It is very nice to go there once it's closed as we were the only group up there! You can spend as much time as you want (during openin hours it's limited to 5 minutes). The view is really amazing. A lot of narrow stairs, be prepared! And to avoid if you're afraid of heights.
