This is a fine trip. Through no fault of the operator. It’s just a lot of time to spend on on a bus with only two short stops, which are neat, but not exhilarating. It’s simply a lot of “downtime” and I’m not convinced it was worth the cost. However, our bus driver Wee tried his best and is a delightful singer (really) and I appreciated the Māori songs he sang along the way. A real unexpected treat. I just wish there were more things to do and see.

Cape Reinga is incredibly beautiful! Really enjoyed the time walking around there and marvelling at the stunning views! Sandboarding down the sand dunes was a unique experience to be treasured. Even the bus ride into the sand dunes was interesting and novel! We essentially had to drive through a very shallow stream flowing through the sand. The driver showcased some skill to get through. Driving the bus along 90 Mile Beach was an incredible experience, driving directly on the sand for a good long stretch! It has to be the world's most beautiful highway. It was fun to see if we could spot any wild horses along the drive as well (we did!). When we got out on the beach, the driver showed us how to search for clams in the sand and even gave us one to sample raw, if we chose to. Interesting to see some of the shellfish and marine wildlife that washed up on shore, including blue bottle jellyfish! We could also observe the famous Hole in the Rock from the shore.

Beautiful scenery from the comfort of a bus, wee (our driver) was knowledgeable and funny with lots of commentary along the route. The sand surfing was brilliant fun and the ride along 90 mile beach was great fun. Overall a very enjoyable day with lots of fun packed in. Provided lunch was lovely too. Highly recommend this trip
