What people are saying about Northern Limit Line
Despite DMZ being closed due to AFS, I recommend the tour with the NK defector if you are interested in the Korean War and DMZ. Our guide Han was terrific at giving history and context. The NK defector gave amazingly open responses to questions about her harrowing experience. It is well worth the extra cost to hear from her directly. We visited Imjingak and Odusan Observatory. Imjingak is a memorial/theme park site at the edge of the currently closed region, just south of the Imjin River, 10km from the JSA and includes a memorial, BEAT131 bunker exhibit, a peace bell, a train from the war, and a view of the bridge over which POWs were repatriated. Odusan is a modern, 4 story mini-museum and platform to view NK from only 2km across the Imgin River, close enough to see through telescope people riding bikes and walking around buildings. (Note: closed to any tour: Dora train station, Dorasan Observatory, 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, JSA. Still open: Imjingak, Odusan & Ganghwa Observatories)
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour to the DMZ. Our tour guide, 'SP', had a great sense of humour, and was very knowledgable about the history of the DMZ. My only criticism of the tour was that on the way back to Seoul, we made two stops to a jewellery store and a medicine store, which no one in the tour asked for. Nevertheless, the tour was enjoyable and the presence of the North Korean defector answering our questions was very enlightening!
This is an excellent tour. The tour guide, SP, is awesome - really knowledgeable, professional and funny. Hearing about North Korea from someone who's been there was a very positive and eye opening part of the tour. Warning to those out of shape like me - the walk down tunnel 3 is tough...the walk back up is really challenging (well not so much for my kids, just me :) ). We loved this tour!
Unfortunately the interpreter wasn’t available and we were refunded a bit but we had a lovely experienced guide named S.P. He was full of knowledge ,quick to answer any questions, and added some humor to the trip. I would try to go on a nicer day as the Sky was a bit foggy diminishing our view but overall worth the trip.
overall a great experience. our tour guide mr. Nam was very enthusiastic and helpful. for people who want to go and experience the dmz and the history behind it I would recommend this trip. only complaint is we had to stop at a jewellery store, which was just a waste of time in my opinion. otherwise very good
