Meeting point

Your host’s home is just 10 minutes away by car from Porto city center. It’s recommended to use Bolt, FREE NOW, or Uber for a fast ride. If you’re traveling with more than two people, it is the cheapest and fastest way. If you have your own car, there are free parking spots in the street. If traveling by bus from Bolhão, you can take bus 800 or 801 that stops just across the street from the house (direct 20-minute ride). Keep in mind that you can only buy the ticket inside the bus with coins. If traveling by metro from Trindade Station, you can take the Orange Metro Line (direct 30-minute ride) and leave at the Fânzeres stop, after which it takes about a 10-minute walk (700 meters) to reach the house.

We had the best time - 10 of us were welcomed into Joanna’s lovely home. We baked the most amazing pastel de nata I have ever tasted - Joana was a wonderful teacher - so clear with her instructions, and a fantastic and engaging host. We all got to enjoy our creations round the table together at the end of the session. She gave us the recipe so that we are able to make them at home - I’ve already bought the little tins!

What a fabulous afternoon we had with Joana! She was so welcoming and charming and made us all feel at ease. I love the history of the Nata she shared before we started making them. Joana's team approach to baking was great as it took to the pressure of each person to make the full recipe. The only downside is that now no other Nata can compare as these were absolutely the best Pastel de Nata I have ever eaten (and I've done my fair share of taste comparison)! Muito obrigado Joana!

100% recommendation!!! I traveled alone to Porto and attended this course on my 2nd day. There were 11 of us in total and it was like meeting a friend (Joana) at home to bake together. Joana's apartment is a little bit outside of Porto but very accessible. The participants were from all over the world (Montreal, NY, London, The Hague...). Joana had already provided all the necessary utensils and ingredients. After a little introductory round and something about the history of the Pastel de Nata, we got started. She explained all the steps to us in detail and gave us the choice of which steps we wanted to actively participate in. While the Pastel de Nata were in the oven, we drank coffee/tea and juice together and exchanged ideas. The tarts were heavenly!!! There were 3 pieces for each and they were completely plastered. We then received the recipe and restaurant tips for Porto by email. It was a great afternoon!
