On this half-day tour you'll relive scenes from one of the most popular movies of all time. Visit the locations used during the filming of The Sound of Music in Salzburg and its surrounding countryside. During the tour, you’ll also hear songs from the original soundtrack. Let your guide show you the architectural and historical landmarks of the city and the picturesque Lake District. See Leopoldskron Palace, a place whose exterior was used as the Trapp family home and where the children were seen boating on the lake and jumping into the water. Maria was a novice at Nonnberg Abbey, the oldest convent in German-speaking Europe, and your next stop. The St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang scenes shown at the beginning of the movie were actually filmed at Lake Fuschl, on the way to St. Gilgen, which you'll also see today. The wedding scene was filmed at Mondsee Cathedral, a buttery yellow-and-white edifice where you'll stop on the tour. Maria, led by Liesl, walked down the aisle to meet the baron in front of the stairs of the main altar. After dropping you off in Salzburg at the end of the tour you can visit Mirabell Gardens, located just opposite the tour terminal. See Nonnberg Nunnery on the hill from the outside, and enjoy witnessing the oldest nunnery in Europe which became famous thanks to the voice of Maria Kutschera, whose story served as inspiration for the Sound of Music movie. Take a stroll through the magnificent Mirabell Gardens, where Maria and the children danced around the Pegasus Fountain singing the song Do-re-mi. In the summertime, enjoy the fresh air in Hellbrunn Park, and see the famous Gazebo keeping the secret of Liesl's first kiss.

On this excursion you will explore Salzburg and its beautiful surroundings on the traces of the world-famous musical “The Sound of Music”. Start your day with a walk through the Mirabell gardens, famous across the world for the Do-Re-Mi scenes filmed here. See the Pegasus fountain, dwarf garden as well as statues from Roman and Greek mythology and stunning, formal patterned flower beds. Drive up to one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the city, immortalised in Do-Re-Mi, with a fantastic view over the entire city of Salzburg and its millennium fortress. Back in your luxury minivan have a photo stop near Maria’s Abbey (Nonnberg Abbey) on your way to Leopoldskron Palace (boat scene and pink lemonade at the terrace). After a short stop at Leopoldskron drive on to the palace of Hellbrunn where you have the chance to visit the original gazebo and gardens. Then, leave the city driving south into the stunning Bavarian mountains where they filmed the opening scene. Now is your chance to spin in a field in the original area from the opening scene of The Hills are Alive. Journey off the beaten track down a scenic country road along the river Salzach and through the narrow gorges of the Lueg pass to Werfen where you will head to the top of the Sound of Music trail, the picnic spot from the movie. Enjoy a short rest here and its magnificent panorama view.  The final part of the tour takes you through the Austrian lake district via the scenic roads, where parts of the opening scene where filmed, and on to the “Sound of Music” wedding cathedral in Mondsee where the romantic wedding scene was filmed.

Start your journey of discovery at the bike rental location. Ride along the river to the Müllner Steg bridge - One of the most beautiful views of the old town. Immediately thereafter, ride to the Palace Mirabell and enjoy the view over the Mirabell garden to the Festung Hohensalzburg - a well-known motif, but always impressive. The bike tour continues to Salzburg Festspielhaus, Salzburg Dom,Domplatz and Residenzplatz. Passing the fortress from below follow the bike lane along the Salzach to Nonnberg Abbey. Stop to view the 8th century old female convent Nonnberg Abbey. Small side streets and cycle paths lead to the shady Hellbrunner Allee. Enjoy this shady 2.8km long path lined with old trees. Pass stately homes such as the impressive Schloss Freisaal and Schloss Fronburg and end at the magnificent Hellbrunn Palace. During a short stop in the Park of Hellbrunn Palace you can get some culinary refreshments, marvel at modern art in the park or simply enjoy the over 400-year-old complex with the beautiful Palace and colorful flowers. The journey continues to various residential districts with views of the Untersberg to the Leopoldskron Palace. Overlooking the Untersberg, riding along the famous Almkanal water system, the path leads to Schloss Leopoldskron. Located on a little lake you find great foto opportunities. Today known as a Schloss Hotel and film location of Sound of Music, this 200 year old estate has a long interesting history. Ride back into town and treat yourself to a last look to the Alps, the Untersberg mountain and Kapuzinerberg. The tour ends at the bike rental location. Congratulations! You will see the Mirabell Palace, a UNESCO world heritage site which will astonish you with its geometrically-arranged gardens. Here, you will find mythological sculptures from 1730, and Greek and Roman statues sculpted by Ottavio Mosto in 1690. Visit the residence of the great Mozart until the age of 17. Built in the 12th century, the house is now a museum retracing the life of this amazing composer. Each floor will show you wonderful memories of his life. You will see his first musical instruments as well as a replica of Mozart's living conditions. Walk on Grain Lane, a shopping street located in the old town of Salzburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. At this narrow street, you will see high-townhouses and iron guild emblems. Since 1987, the street has been the theater of a famous lady called "the puppet woman". Admire the Baroque architecture at the Salzburg Cathedral dating back to the 17th century. It was first founded by Saint Rupert in 774 in a Roman town. It was rebuilt after a fire from 1181. It is in this Cathedral at which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized. Here, you can still observe the baptismal used for his baptism. Get to see Petersfriedhof, also named St. Peter's Cemetery, you will visit one of the most popular attractions in Salzburg. It is the oldest cemetery in Salzburg. which also includes amazing catacombs and two chapels from the 12th and 15th centuries. You will visit one of the biggest medieval castles in Europe. Located on a hill of 506 meters high, the fortress offers a nice view of the city of Salzburg. The Citadel contains the Salzburg Bull, the Golden Hall, and Chamber, but also the Bedchamber of the Prince-Bishop. Finally, you will be astonished by the great architecture at Stift Nonnberg, (or Nonnberg Abbey), which is a Benedictine cloister and the oldest convent in Germany. Also a UNESCO site, Here you will see the wooden Gothic altar made by the sculptor Veit Stoss.
