Leave the coast and enjoy a beautiful drive through the Gorges du Loup with its 40 meter high waterfall. Stop in Castellane, gateway to the Gorges of the Verdon, nestled at the foot of its famous rock. Drive along the Verdon river, named after its startling turquoise-green color, up to the canyon which is considered to be Europe’s most beautiful. Enjoy the spectacular and breathtaking views overlooking the ravine which is up to 700 meters deep. It was a long sitting trip. There was not so much time to walk in nature or enjoy the view. But the view of nature, time in villages was fascinating and the trip was worth the money that I spent. The information and stories that guide told were interesting but hard to hear in the back of the car.

Spectacular scenery, and an opportunity to experience an other part of France that we would have missed if we had remained in Nice. The road was narrow and extremely twisted. Our driver was a pro. I originally planned to rent a car but I'm glad I didn't. It would have been imposible to drive safely and enjoy the scenery at the same time.

That was awesome day-trip! I thought we just visit three places, but actually stopped by a few more on the way which had very nice view points. Joe, the driver, had explained a lot about the places with relevant history and culture, and tried us not being bored. As we didn’t have a car, it was a great opportunity to explore inland area of South France.
