Continue up through the gorge and the spectacular Forest of Dean to Monmouth and Rockfield. Discover Roman times at Caerleon and the historic picturesque market town of Monmouth, birthplace of King Henry V. Admire Monmouth's Monnow Bridge, iconic 13th century gatehouse bridge, the only remaining one of its design in Britain. This sightseeing day tour also includes a stop at the magnificent Cistercian Tintern Abbey, founded in 1131. On the way back to Cardiff we'll drive by Newport Transporter Bridge, an engineering marvel, a remarkable Grade 1 listed structure and one of only six operational transporter bridges left worldwide.

Embark on a full-day tour, fully inclusive of all ticketed entry to sites, from Cardiff, exploring 5 historical landmarks in a single day, with an hour or more at each attraction. Be driven to your first stop, the Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre, a spot once used for combat and games and perhaps even the fabled round table from the King Arthur legend. Continue to Chepstow Castle, the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in Britain. Once inside its walls, feel yourself taken back in time and perhaps imagine being a Lord or Lady from times past. Then, head to the national icon of Tintern Abbey, standing in roofless splendor on the banks of the River Wye nearly 500 years since its tragic fall from grace. Next, visit the Caerphilly Castle, a medieval fortification with a leaning tower. After admiring this fine example of a moated castle, with much of its towers and walls intact, make your final stop at Castell Coch, a 19th-century Gothic Revival castle built above the village of Tongwynlais in South Wales.
