HEY HO! LET'S GO! Join New York's First Family of Tour Guides for a walking tour of New York music and culture in the Lower East Side. Do a pub crawl through an area that's harbored the aggression of both the Gangs of New York and the Punks of the Bowery.
What to Expect
HEY HO! LET'S GO! on a Punk Rock Pub Crawl on the Bowery in the Lower East Side. Wander through the streets that were home to the Gangs of New York in the 1850's and the Punks of the Bowery in the 1970's.
Listen to the stories behind the Astor Place Opera House riots in 1849 (the site of New York's very first mosh pit!) and the Civil War Draft riots in 1963. Go to an adequately dusty but delicious bar, where you will learn about the rabble-rousing Bowery B'hoys over a couple of pints of beer.
Explore the Bowery from gritty 19th century saloons to 20th century punk rock dive bars, where disillusioned youth started their own revolution at the iconic CBGB's. Learn about how a group of "punks" influenced the world with their edginess - from their dancing and music to their lifestyle fueled with slang, booze and drugs.
This tour is a great choice for birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette events and general NYC reverly. Drinks are not included in the tour price. Please note that the tour can also be led as an edu-taining tour without the bar stops.
