What You'll Do
  • Experience the tragic events and uplifting stories behind 9/11 at the Ground Zero Museum
  • See a film that includes rare audio from the morning of the disaster
  • View rare photos of the event through the lens of photographer Gary Marlon Suson
Overview
Experience the events of 9/11 and all that happened in the months that followed that tragic day, on a visit to the Ground Zero Museum and this interactive workshop. This kid-friendly activity educates children about 9/11 in a tasteful, non-graphic way.
What to Expect
Head to Manhattan's historical Meatpacking District to experience the real Ground Zero. On this 2-hour visit to the Ground Zero Museum, you’ll learn the story of what happened on 11 September 2001 and during the months that followed.

You’ll see and be able to pick up artifacts of 9/11. No other museum in NYC allows you to hold rare artifacts.

You’ll also see the moving images of 9/11 by Gary Marlon Suson, the official photographer at Ground Zero. Mr. Suson was the only photographer in the world allowed full, round-the-clock access to every single area at the World Trade Center, including the dangerous subway tunnels below Ground Zero.

During the Ground Zero Museum workshop you’ll interact directly with the special stories of 9/11. For the first 30 minutes of the activity, you’ll be taken through the events of the day by your personal guide in an interactive and thought-provoking way.

Pick up and hold artifacts such as rare World Trade Center window glass and steel. Then you’ll receive an audio wand. Each story in your hand-held unit tells a different piece of the story behind the massive recovery efforts at Ground Zero.

Listen to firsthand experiences, learn about those who lost their lives, and see the images and artifacts that represent the 9-month recovery efforts in Lower Manhattan. Survivors and family members have donated dozens of intimate items, and their stories will truly open your eyes to the aftermath of that single day.

Audio tours are available in French, Italian, English, and Spanish.
