What to Expect
Begin in front of the Washington Square Hotel, and work your way towards Washington Square Park. Learn about the infamous Hanging Tree and events that gave it that name. Walk into the heart of Washington Square Park and see the Arch while listening to spine-chilling stories of New York's most haunted park. Next make your way over to the Brown Building, site of the infamous Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire where the victims still linger to this day.
As you make your way out of the park and up 5th Avenue, stop past the Church of the Ascension (haunted by artist John Lafarge,) before stopping at 14 West 10th Street, reportedly the most haunted house in Manhattan. This house is home to 22 spirits and has been the site of several murders. Then head into the heart of the West Village, pass Emma Lazarus's house and one of the most beautiful libraries in New York.
Next stop at 12 Gay Street, haunted by several different spirits, including former New York City Mayor Jimmy Walker. On the way, you'll pass Stonewall Inn and Sheridan Square where the Stonewall Riots of 1969 took place. After crossing Christopher street, visit Marie's Crisis and Chumley's, the infamous speakeasy.
