Our Harlem Gospel tour was very informative. Doris, our guide was relaxed, prepared, and knowledgeable. She helped each person on the tour with the rest of their day’s planning and how to make it happen. Having lived in Harlem for so many years, and being such an active contributor, she was a wealth of information historically and culturally. Doris helped us find outstanding soul food and got us tickets to see our Vice President speak at Carnegie Hall! Doris a gem!

ESSENTIAL

It is a mandatory visit when you travel to New York, the gospel mass is exciting, and it is quite long, so you can get a good idea about this tradition. You do it with the locals, which is more authentic. Also, after mass they take you around the neighborhood to explain the most essential of Harlem. I recommend visiting the neighborhood in a group, we were alone last year and we didn't have the same experience.

well done, made the maximum out of this short but rathspecial program

It’s a bit unfortunate and awkward that this church service has become a tourist program and one cannot just attend without being part of one of the many organised hordes. Having said this, we were really pleased by the way our visit was organised and conducted by this team... George was a great guide and we spent a wonderful 2,5 hours in Harlem (where we actually stayed for a whole week)
