We visited on 8/11 having been to the memorial and 9/11 museum. We were feeling a bit low as the museum is a powerful place, but One World lifted our spirits! The staff were really friendly and helpful, and even though I knew what to expect the experience and views were outstanding. One thing to avoid is the $10 tablet that they pretend you need when they 'check' your ticket at the top - you'll just carry round a brick and spoil your visit. Just say NO THANKS and go in, they have already scanned your ticket on the way up and use it as an excuse to sell you the tablet rental. Just use your eyes and your camera and have a great time.

With only 1-full day to explore NYC, this trip to see the Freedom Tower and experience the One World Observatory was a definite highlight. The streaming videos of the city’s history at the base, then in the elevator, and again at the top before revealing the breathtaking skyline was well done. Since we chose a 5PM entry, we enjoyed pre-sunset cocktails at the top before descending. An extra treat was exiting into “The Oculus” which is the new, architecturally significant post-911 underground subway station designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Both structures were stunning! Wish we had found time to visit the 911 Memorial Museum to complete the experience, but we climbed to the Crown of the State of Liberty, which filled up our day.
