Full description
Avoid wandering around the Metropolitan Museum in New York lost and confused, and discover the highlights of the museum's huge collection with an expert guide. Tour in small groups of no more than 15 participants (for a more intimate experience), following a carefully-planned itinerary that starts in Ancient Egypt. See perfectly preserved Ancient Egyptian tombs, and tiny dioramas that show what life was like in the times of Tutankhamun. Learn about their burial rituals in the Egyptian mummies area, and see the Met’s mascot “William.” Continue to the Temple of Dendur, and discover a temple of Ancient Egypt smack in the middle of Central Park! Your guide will provide all the gossip about this and other exhibits, such as how Jackie O procured the Temple of Dendur for the Met; tales about the armor of Britain’s infamous King Henry VIII; and how some think the Antioch Chalice may be “The Holy Grail.” See ancient works of Greek statuary and Roman frescoes, before moving to the exotic exhibits from Papua New Guinea. Admire beautifully carved Bisj poles collected by a Rockefeller, at the cost of his life. Then, head to the 2nd floor to soak in some of Claude Monet’s dreamlike “Water Lillies.” Be energized by the expressive works of Vincent Van Gogh, and inspired by a bronze of Rodin’s “Thinker.”

Exceptional tour of The MET

We did the “highlight” 2-hour tour with our family. The value of this tour cannot be overstated. Having someone show you the highlights for two hours and then getting the rest of the museum all for the same cost is the best way to experience the museum with kids of this age. We have 12 year old and 10 year old girls and they enjoyed the tour and our guide very much! The guide was knowledgeable, personable, funny, and professional. She managed a wide age range within our group flawlessly. We will definitely do another tour with this group!

Scott was a wonderful guide. He was both informing and entertaining and was able to keep the attention of my 14 year old grandson and his girlfriend for the entire 2 hours. It was a terrific introduction to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and I am sure we will be returning again soon.

Stefan our guide was very knowledgeable about all the different facets of the museum, however it would be helpful if he could speak considerably louder and slow down his speaking delivery ... he speaks very quickly. There seemed to be a bit of confusion about the length of the tour . My friend and I had signed up for 2 hour tour at 3 p.m . The other people had all signed up for a 3 hour tour starting at 3 p.m. but we were all in the same group. Due to early dinner reservations we had to leave at 5:10 when Stefan had just started his tour of impressionism so our time with the tour was really just all the ancient artifacts with little time spent with the various periods of art
