Full description
Step aboard the decks of an elegant 1920's-style yacht, for an educational architecture tour around Manhattan, hosted by architects and members of the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIANY). Enjoy your trip through the Hudson, East, and Harlem rivers from the air-conditioned observatory, or wander to the outer decks for fresh air and sunlight. Circumnavigate the island of Manhattan, passing under all 18 bridges, while taking in the sites and architecture. Examine the visionary development of the waterfront memorials, get an update on the One World Trade Center, Downtown "Starchitecture", Jean Nouvel's 100 Eleventh Ave. condos, and classic icons of lower Manhattan like the Woolworth Building, Wall Street's art deco spires, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Marvel at New York's great engineering feats, such as the Harlem River's bridges: swing, lift, and fixed-span. This was a great activity that provides a lot of information about how NYC was being built, all the layers on each different parts of the skyline and the surrounding boroughs as well as very interesting facts about the different bridges. Being on the hudson and east rivers, allow for picture perfect moments that will be forever remembered.

This was such a nice cruise! A perfect amount of time full of so much information about Manhattan and the areas around. The views were beautiful, and the afternoon time we ended close to before sunset so it was stunning. Bring a blanket to wear on your lap if going during cold weather.

After so much chaos in the city, finally a relaxing experience! In a cozy boat you circumnavigate Manhattan over a glass of champagne and have the opportunity to get an overview, to approach the Statue of Liberty and neighborhoods such as the Bronx from a safe distance. Perhaps I would have preferred something more on the development of the city and on the arch. New Yorker in general, eliminating sterile lists of buildings that appear, but I'm still satisfied.
