Full description
Take a guided walking tour of Tremé, the birthplace of New Orleans jazz and the center of the city’s Creole culture. Your licensed guide, a local historian, will tell you about this vibrant neighborhood’s African-American history and the rise of the civil rights movement. As you explore this area, you’ll visit St. Augustine Church, The Tomb of the Unknown Slave, and the only laundromat that made its way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Jelly Roll Morton, Alphonse Picou, and Trombone Shorty are just some of the New Orleans jazz greats who were born here. Along the way you’ll see locations from the set of the HBO series Tremé and learn about the city’s modern brass band tradition. Today this neighborhood is still home to musicians as well as artists and craftsmen who contribute to the development of the ongoing neighborhood story.

Interesting tour! I’m a huge fan of the show Treme, and went back and watched a bunch of episodes with an entirely new understanding of the show. One thing to note - the tour description said 87 minutes, and it was over 2 hours. I was happy about it, because I wanted more. But if someone was planning their day around this tour being closer to 90 minutes, that could have been problematic.

The Tour Treme was exceptional. I highly recommend to all tourist and even residents of New Orleans. My wife’s from New Orleans and she learned so much new information about the City she wasn’t aware of. If you can please request Erin as your tour guide. She has so much knowledge of the tour above and beyond the average tour guide.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and the tour guide was great. I will be transparent and say it down poured during the second half of the tour and while everyone else in the group said they were okay to continue, (the tour guide did give us options), my cousin and I decided to head back to our hotel to get out of the rain as we were completely soaked. The first half of the tour was incredibly informative and even after five visits to New Orleans, I learned new information and history. I will definitely take the tour again so I can complete the entire experience. I would recommend this experience.
