Our cocktail tour was informative, relaxed and well designed. Our guide Beth was knowledgeable and friendly. She knew not just the bartenders and wait staff in the places she took us to but many of the locals as well. Her descriptions of the cocktails and the history of the area added a lot to the experience.

Full description

Your night of cultured imbibing begins as evening arrives in the French Quarter. Meet your lively guide and start your 3‐hour tour with a cocktail in a luxurious wine bar's tropical courtyard. 

You begin the tour with the first popular drink containing booze: a homemade rum punch! Your second visit will be to 3rd Block Depot, a modern saloon in a 19th Century icehouse. There, you'll have one of two options: try the classic Sazerac, a recipe attributed to a Creole apothecarist in the 19th Century – when cocktails constituted as medicine! Or you have the option to enjoy another pre-Civil War drink: the Brandy Crusta!

Then head to the award-winning Peychaud's Bar for creative cocktails invented just prior to Prohibition. Sample a refreshing Pimm's Cup, or the Carnival-time favorite, the Ojen Frappé. Your final stop is the Bourbon 'O' Bar for the obscure yet beloved Roffignac highball, a nod to the city’s last French‐born mayor. The last venue (Bourbon 'O' Bar) not only features local food but also a live local jazz band beginning at 8pm!
