The guide was more than awesome. She told us a lot of things, even gave af copies of things to do in town for NYE. Very precious and kind. the tour itself I have to admit is not so great. The big house has been renovated during the years and all the houses were the enslaved people lived are reconstructions. Only few original objects were showed in the mansion. The oaks are really great, but I wasn't intented to visit a beautiful house with a nice garden. I didn't feel much history and I was not really moved into what those enslaved people really had to experience.
Good experience, we didn’t see any alligators but it wasn’t the season and we saw plenty of other birds and reptiles. Bus trip was an easy way to travel to the boat, and our Captain was knowledgeable and friendly. I didn’t love that there was a baby alligator handed around to passengers personally, would have preferred the trip without this As I don’t think this is fair on the alligator; but that’s me. There was a long wait period waiting to start to boat tour, would have been better if this wasn’t about 45 minutes long, but at least the day was relatively warm.
The driver Alton was great, he made the drive enjoyable and informational. I would have liked more time than the 2 hrs allotted. Further for the price asked comparable to experience I think it was a bit too high. If something else was added like a discount ice cream or meal that would've helped.
Guide was very knowledgeable on the bus. The plantation was beautiful. Do not miss the house tour and take the time to walk down the alley from the house to get the best pics. Stay for the lecture in the slave/share croppers area, most interesting.
The tour was great beloved the history. Weather was perfect. We didn’t realize how far away it was when we booked it. Half day was good for us.
