What to Expect
When you arrive in Agra, your personal English-speaking guide will meet you at the Taj Mahal, the epitome of Mughal architecture. You’ll tour the majestic temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and also see the compound’s Mughal Garden.
On this full-day trip from Delhi, you’ll also visit Agra’s Red Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage site. The Delhi Gate, on the western side of the Fort, leads to an inner gateway guarded by 2 stone elephants. There are number of palaces inside the Fort, including the Khas Mahal and Shish Mahal, and also the tower of Musamman Burj, which has a balcony with views of the Taj Mahal.
You’ll continue on to the Itmad-ud-Daulah tomb, known as the Baby Taj.The tomb is embellished with mosaics and semi-precious stones that are set into white marble from Rajasthan.
See the tomb of Akbar the Great in Sikandra. This is the burial site of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The Emperor himself started the construction of the tomb in 1600.The grave is decorated with paintings in gold, green, and blue hues.
