From Nazareth come up north and visit the fascinating cities along the Mediterranean coast and the Western Galilee, each with its own rich mix of natural beauty, ancient heritage and religious traditions - Haifa, Tzippori, Acre (Akko) and Rosh Hanikra.
What to Expect
On our way from Nazareth to the coast, we pass by Mount Precipice, where Jesus survived an attempt to throw him off the cliff. We’ll stop for a short break to appreciate the view, and then carry on to Tzippori (Sepphoris), where we’ll visit a local organic olive press. Olive oil has been the local industry for the last few thousand years: we’ll learn about the process and taste some of the best varieties.
We continue our tour in Haifa, the northern capital of Israel. Haifa is a holy city for the Baha’i faith, who have planted sacred gardens along the Carmel hill leading up to their shrine. We arrive at the temple and then take a guided tour of the gardens, learning about the Baha’i history and religion and appreciating the aesthetic features of the gardens too.
We then continue on to Acre, an important port city for thousands of years. Each successive ruler left their mark on the city, and we will explore the old city walls, the crusader fortresses, the mosques and the lighthouses. The city is still vibrant today, and we will go to the bustling marketplace for lunch. There are a range of culinary options for you to choose from.
Finally, we continue to Rosh Hanikra. The Rosh Hanikra grottoes are a unique geological formation, which were formed by strong waves crashing into the chalk cliffs, creating caves and tunnels at the bottom of the cliffs. For centuries, only sailors and divers could see the grottoes, but now a steep cable car takes visitors down to see them.
We end the tour back in Nazareth at around 6pm.
