Full description
Explore the Galilee Region and the Golan Heights, two of the most stunning and culturally rich areas of Israel, on this unforgettablen, self-guided tour. Discover unique landmarks, beautiful landscapes, and the rich historical and religious significance of these areas. The tour begins in Nazareth, the childhood home of Jesus. Then, head to Capernaum, a small fishing village on the Sea of Galilee where Jesus is said to have performed many miracles. Here, you will visit the ancient synagogue and the house of St. Peter. Next, you will make your way to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus is believed to have delivered his famous Sermon on the Mount. The stunning views from the mountaintop are breathtaking and offer a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. From there, you will journey to the Golan Heights, a rugged and mountainous region that offers some of the most beautiful landscapes in Israel. Here, you will visit the Hermon Stream/Banias Nature Reserve, where you can see the source of the Jordan River and the ruins of the ancient city of Caesarea Philippi. Next, you'll head to Mas'ada, a charming Druze village with stunning views of the area. Stop here for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where you get to experience authentic Druze cuisine and hospitality. The Druze are an Arabic-speaking religious group with a unique culture and cuisine that blends Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors. This is a great opportunity to try new dishes and learn more about this fascinating community. After lunch, Continue to a local boutique winery, where you can taste some of the famous wines of the region and learn about the history of winemaking in Israel. Head back to the Galilee Region and take a refreshing break at the Sea of Galilee. This freshwater lake is surrounded by stunning scenery and offers a tranquil setting for swimming and relaxation. Seize the opportunity to cool off in the clear waters and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. This is a great way to recharge and take in the natural beauty of the region. Finally, arrive back in Nazareth for the conclusion of this journey. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the Galilee and the Golan Heights, a truly unforgettable experience.

This tour was good, but one part left me feeling cheated. The good: Town of Jesus archaeological site, Golan Heights views, and Sea of Galilee swim The bad: the extra-charge visit to the Banias Nature Reserve just to see a waterfall. Because I was wearing a light knee brace our guide told me three times (apparently he thought I was deaf as well as very slightly lame) I should take the longer, leveler path rather than the shorter, steeper one to the falls. I was stunned to find it cost 28 shekels to hike to the falls, but figured it must be a great falls at that price. I took the longer path as advised, but the guide gave us only 45 minutes and by the time I walked the longer path it was already time to go back so I never actually saw the waterfall. What made it worse is that after the tour I found out the 28 shekels covered not only the waterfall but also a much more interesting archaeological site a short drive away and that the waterfall I didn't get to see wasn't worth 28 shekels.
