Full description

The first stop is Demeter temple, a spectacular recently restored ancient temple from 530 BC. Apart from the impressive monument, you'll have the chance to visit the archeological museum located in the same area, and to check out some findings from the site.

Continue the tour to Damalas, a cute little village in the heart of Tragea Valley where you'll enjoy a demonstration at the only remaining traditional pottery workshop and the traditional restored olive press. Then drive to Chalkio, a neoclassical village where you can walk in picturesque alleys, visit the traditional citron distillery/museum, and have an espresso while taking in the classy atmosphere. A visit to Panagia Drosiani, the oldest church on the Balcan Peninsula, is a must during your visit. Head then to the famous village of Naxos, Apiranthos, the “marble village," and stroll down marble cobbled streets and take loads of photos. Drive towards the north part of Naxos island to end up on the northeast edge in Apollonas, a small typical Cycladic village. Have a swim or just relax at one of the cafes by the sea. On the way back, stop by the impressive Kouros, a colossal unfinished statue from the 6th century BC, before returning to Chora, taking in gorgeous views along the way.

The tour with Nikos and our fabulous bus driver Makis was amazing! Nikos told us a lot about the island and its inhabitants. He conveyed his knowledge - also with humor - well. The stops were well chosen to get an impression of Naxos. Since we already knew the village of Chalkio, the time there was appropriate for us. When visiting the village for the first time, staying there is very scarce! We especially liked the marble village of Apeiranthos. There was also time for a coffee. The stop in Appolonia, in the north of the island, rounded off the excursion after having lunch together. We can unreservedly recommend the bus tour. Especially Nikos, the best guide and Makis, who drove us well over the sometimes very curvy routes. Ευχαριστούμε!

Fabulous tour!!! So glad we booked it. Nikolas is an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide! Together with Mike, his skilled bus driver, they made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the tour with its many winding roads and their easy banter and Nikolas’ witty jokes!! The bus was spacious and very comfortable and we never had trouble hearing Nikolas on the bus’s intercom or outside (no whispers required.) he made good use of the time spent on the bus with his stories and vast knowledge. This tour was well worth it as we otherwise would never have seen the more remote and other beautiful and breathless spots of Naxos nor have learned so much fascinating history that only a local could know and tell it. All The stops on this tour were interesting and we never felt rushed. Would highly recommend this 8-hour tour to everyone who visits Naxos!!
