On this walking tour, you’ll see some of Santorini’s famous picture-postcard views and hear stories of both its recent past and its ancient history. Along the way, you’ll get to know how locals have lived on the island from its beginnings as a small settlement to a top tourist destination, and how volcanic eruptions and earthquakes have shaped the village’s character and community. You’ll discover why Santorinians live in cave houses, what life was like before tourism, why Oia was once called the Village of the Captains and what it’s like to live life on the edge! Whether this is your first time in Santorini or you’re revisiting Oia and want to know more than the guidebooks can tell you, I’ll show you the undiscovered village behind the postcard. An hour late for our tour, we exited the cable car in Fira and found a guide with our name who walked us to the Karavas Travel Tours where the lady said she wasn't expecting us until noon.... It was awkward, but she said she found us a driver who could be there in 30 minutes. It was fine for us to go look around the town for 30 minutes and pick up some gifts. By 10:45, we were off with our driver, Sotirios, who taught us to pose as he took our photos. We stopped in Oia where are driver dropped us off and said he'd be back in 2 hours. We assured him one was plenty, and he said he may have to do a pick up with another group. It was odd since we booked him for the day. Luckily our driver shared his business card, so when we were obviously lost, another driver contacted him for us and he showed up within 10 minutes. It was a long drive to the Black Beach where we went to Perivolos for lunch, a view, and beach access for 32 Euros. We made it back to Fira by 4 pm after a fantastic day!

This was a wonderful tour around the island. Our guide was a pleasure to get to know and was very accommodating to what we wanted to do and see. Had a great tour with a little extra bonus time at the beach!

Excellent tour, we saw the most important of the island in a few hours and personalized, the guide and the driver of the best
