Tongariro Alpine Crossing: Hike Trail Roundtrip Shuttle

Incredible. I am not a regular hiker, and I found this both physically and mentally challenging but my gosh was it worth it. Not only is this Mount Doom, but being so close to a volcano was amazing. The various terrain was surprising and interesting, but the view…they were something to behold. The red crater was stunning, the sulphur lakes were eye popping with such a bright colour it does not look really. The hills were boundless and the forest near the end was rich and beautiful. Highly recommend. It suggests 6-9 hours and we completed this in 6.5. Take plenty of food with you, along with loo roll for the porter loos. They are not the cleanest after the lakes but it is what you would expect. Ensure you wear the correct footwear as the terrain is very unsteady and a lot of up hill. The coach pick up has 3 different times just don’t miss the last one! Please if you do anything on the North Island, do this.

The bus was on time, the guide was helpful and it was all topped off by the fact that the walk was awesome.
