Full description
Begin your adventure in downtown Nassau and follow your guide as you stroll to some of the most historic landmarks and sites in town. Walk up to the top of Elizabeth Avenue for a 15-minute stop at the famous Queen’s Staircase, a major limestone staircase that consists of 66 steps. Here you will get the chance to capture its majestic beauty with your camera as your guide shares the history of this 18th-century staircase, including how 600 slaves constructed it in honor of Queen Victoria’s assistance in abolishing slavery in the Bahamas. Continue up Elizabeth Avenue for a five-minute stop at Nassau’s tallest structure, the historic 126-foot Water Tower that supplied water to the island of New Providence back in the early 20th century. Next, your tour will take you to the top of Bennet’s Hill to spend 15 minutes at Fort Fincastle, a fort built in the late 18th century to protect Nassau from pirates. Next, grab your cameras for the chance to take beautiful pictures of the exterior of the Government House. During a 10-minute stop, your tour guide will share tales from this historic site’s past as you admire the architectural excellence of this Georgian Colonial-style residence of the Bahamas’ Governor-General. Now that you have worked up an appetite, make a stop at Graycliff Chocolatier and indulge in a sampling of these locally made delicious treats. Next, tour the galleries of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas and learn about the history of Junkanoo at the Educulture Museum. Afterwards, you will travel to John Watling's Distillery where you may sample rum and tour the facility. From here your next will stop at Tasty Teas where you will learn about the Bahamian bush teas and traditional medicines. Next up is the Nassau Straw Market for a brief history and shopping break. The last stop is at Rawson and Parliament Square where you can learn about the history of the buildings and statues from the colonial era up to present day.

Good walking tour, very good guide (Charles) very knowledgeable about the area. Disappointing that museum was closed (guide was unaware of this) and substitute visit wasn’t great. Couple of the stops on tour were not up to the mark. Winery visit was pretty poor as few of the wines were actually made in Bahamas.

I enjoyed the tour and my tour guide Charles was very informative and has a good sense of humour. Charles helped me get a taxi cab when the one I had made arrangements with didn’t show up. I was thankful for his help as I had no idea where to stay to get a cab.

Charles was a great guide: very receptive to us as a group, answering all of our questions. He gave us history without overwhelming us. Our group was given all the time needed to see and do what we wanted. Charles went over the three hour tour time, as we needed to use the restroom & an ATM. He was very flexible and friendly. Great guide and well worth the fee! Loved it!
