We had a long layover that started at NRT and finished at NRT which limited our ability to go too far. Fusako, our guide, met us at the airport bright and early, took us by train to Narita and packed our 4 hours with incredible local food tastings, history, participation in a tea ceremony, a visit to the temple and a sumptuous lunch of both udon and soba noodles, eel, shrimp, and vegetables. She was thorough, informative, and acutely aware of giving us the best, most authentic experience we could have in Japan in 4 hours time. And she made us feel like we were old friends. Highly recommend if you have a long layover.
We were extremely happy with the tour to help us use a long day at Narita airport. Communication was great throughout the booking process to the day of the tour and we were particularly impressed with the flexibility of our guide to extend the time of the tour after experiencing unexpected delays to the airport. The tour was very interesting and the guide very kind and informative. Full description
After pickup at the airport, meet your guide and travel to the station to take a train to Narita Station. Upon arrival, walk through Naritasan Omotesando, a place filled with quintessentially Japanese scenery.
At Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, you can experience Buddhism. You can observe a ceremony called "Goma Prayer" and experience a part of Japanese culture.
For lunch, enjoy Japanese cuisine that lets you experience the four seasons. You can enjoy eels, a specialty of the Naritasan Omotesando approach, sushi, tempura, soba or udon noodles, and other dishes at the restaurant you are interested in (at extra cost.)
