We loved our experience with Mike! The tea ceremony was calm and all our questions were answered. The tasting included different teas as well as the freshly prepared Matcha. He taught us his techniques to get the Matcha as creamy as possible, so now we're able to enjoy it back home. Being a Nara local he was able to provide us with recommendations of where to buy Matcha and Sake as well as a list of great restaurants. Would definitely recommend the activity!
thought it was going to be a group of 10 people but it ended being a 1 on 1 master tea ceremony which was nice. I did appreciate the master called me via what’s app because I could not locate him in blue kimono, But once we relocated each other. We walked probably 10 minutes to the location. It was a guesthouse but super quaint and quiet guesthouse. Would definitely consider staying in it if I was in Nara. The master was so knowledgeable about different teas and the tasting was well represented. He also gave me an explanation of the background and what all entails in a traditional ceremony which I enjoyed learning about the “why”. Then he let me devour the matcha w/ sweets and brewed tea. Explained to me the history of matcha and demonstrated matcha making skills and let me try it. 10/10 great experience and would recommend. Such a nice and knowledgeable master, plus he also gives recommendations on foods and what to do! Also helped me get on my next bus to Nara deer park! Thank you
