After our visits to Vesuvius and then to the 'mundane' Herculaneum (the Monte Carlo avant la lettre) and the 'working class Pompeii', we admired and marveled at the daily life in the archaeological museum: The frescoes, mosaics, statues and the daily utensils such as glass, jewelry and medical instruments of the residents give a good picture of life until the volcanic eruption, which came to an abrupt halt. Pliny the Younger, who found his uncle one of the victims after the eruption, has written in detail about the volcanic eruption as an eyewitness. We became silent at the sight of the human remains, such as the pregnant woman (with belly) who was found lying forward and covering her face with her hands: The filled-in cavity of her body in the volcanic remains we had also seen in Herculaneum.

The guide, named Carlo, has, thanks to his preparation and availability, made the experience exceptional. The Museum is unique, but the guide is essential !! Thanks Carlo, thanks Askos. Daniela
