Revisit where Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried Pompeii beneath molten ash on a day trip by minivan or bus. Follow your licensed guide through the remains of this UNESCO World Heritage Site remarkably frozen in time for almost 2,000 years. Enjoy a local pizza lunch along your route. Hear stories about the Forum, Thermal Baths, the Lupanare, the Greek Theatre, and plaster casts of bodies burnt by volcanic ashes and lapilli. Savor a typical Naples pizza lunch at one of Pompeii’s cafés. Then, be driven close to the mountain's summit that destroyed the city. From there, take a short walk to the lip of the crater and take in the atmosphere of the smoking mountain. Revisit the devastating day in 79 AD when Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried the Roman city of Pompeii beneath molten ash. On arrival, discover the remains of this UNESCO world heritage site remarkably frozen in time for almost 2,000 years. It is the only active volcano in continental Europe. Enjoy the stunning views over the Bay of Naples. Return to Naples at approximately 5 PM and be dropped off at your hotel, your cruise ship, or the railway station.

We had a lot of fun, Pompeii was very interesting and the Vesuvius absolutely mind blowing. We had a fun driver (Tony) and our guide between Pompeii and the end of the trip (Angela) was fun, she spoke English and French and we were very impressed by her. We recommend this trip! One of our best days in Italy

This was a full day activity starting from our cruise ship. There was a little confusion at the starting point, when we got off the ship, there was no visible meeting place or sign. We eventually found our guide though, and were off. Mt. Vesuvius was a challenge even for someone in shape, it is straight up for a good half hour. The views were good, the volcano interesting, but this part of the trip you were on your own, no guide. We could have used a little more time up top since the climb was challenging. The second part of the trip, Pompei, was excellent. Our experienced guide took us through the ruins, explained everything we saw, and related the historical events with intellect and humor. Overall, this is a great way to spend the day in Naples and a good value.

The trip was as described- we were picked up at our hotel (with a few other groups). From there, we changed busses to a larger bus and went to Mt. Vesuvius as a group of about 50. Mt. Vesuvius is SUPER cool.. but quite the hike. I am 34 and in shape, and was huffing and puffing and sweaty. We were given 1.5 hours there. Then, we bussed to Pompeii and had lunch. Included is a margarita pizza which was DELICIOUS. You can watch the pizza chefs on a screen make it right there fresh. Pompeii is about a 2 hour tour with a guide. The ride back was about 30-40 minutes. In total, 8 hours and a neat experience.
