Travel back in time and explore the Catacombs of San Gennaro to learn more about the patron saint of Naples. Discover what lies beneath street level as you see stunning frescoes and Byzantine paintings from the 9th to the 10th century AD.

Explore the history of the paleo-Christian burial site with an English or Italian-speaking guide. Get explanations about the 4th-century expansion following the transfer of the remains of St. Agrippinus to the underground basilica dedicated to him.

See the large baptismal font commissioned by Bishop Paul II, who took refuge in the catacombs in the 8th century during iconoclastic struggles.

Get a closer look at the details of the upper catacomb, decorated at the beginning of the 3rd century in the so-called Pompeian style, and now home to some of the earliest Christian paintings in southern Italy.

Be amazed by the precious Crypt of the Bishops and its 5th-century mosaics, including one depicting the Bishop of Carthage, St. Quodvultdeus.

Very interesting tour , travel back in time over 2000 years to peagan times, see how the cliff was hollowed out to facilitate the burial of the people of Naples , Learn about the magic of the Saint San Genaro and his miracles, very easy to get around , nice easy walking tour ,,,,,,, only thing I could knock it for is a good way out of the city centre and getting there is a chore ,,, but when it's over make sure you have a plan to get back to your hotel as Taxis and Buses are scarce in that part of town !

Amazing walk through of the catacombes with a detailed explanation of the deep history. No human remains are made visible due to health concerns. Tour and restoration of the Catacombe is funded by the community, so it is also a great help to preserve the history!

Cool short tour (about 40 mins) through a large catacomb. The location is a little out of the way but glad we went. It was a cool experience and the guide was very well informed. They’re trying to use these tour opportunities to rebuild their community by providing jobs and helping to bring income into their communities. It’s really cool to see.
