We did a 45/60 minute tour of the Catacombs. There are no exposed bones in these catacombs as they have been taken away in the 17th or 18th century. The tour was very interesting. We saw the San Gennaro Catacombs. They are being managed by a group of young people from the local area as a non-profit group. The area was/is in what was/is considered a bad part of town where the youth unemployment rate is 60%. By managing the catacombs they are addressing a number of issues - preserving an important historical place, providing a way for the youth of the area to do something, attracting visitors to the area, and improving the reputation of the area. The guide was very knowledgeable and did a good job of leading the tour.

A nice and interesting experience in the underground’s of Naples. The guided tour is recommended to learn more about the catacombs. The site is administered by an association that is investing in young people and trying to give a new life to this area of Naples, this is a plus.

Very quick tour through the catacombs of San Gennero. I only had one day in Naples, so it fit in perfectly. The location is right next to a bus stop (that, like, 5 or 6 buses stop at) so it’s very easy to get to. The tour guide was great - he provided a lot of history of the catacombs and of San Gennaro. It was a nice peak into the history of Naples. Great value.
