We had a very nice day in Ischia. We met our guide at the port in Naples and he gave us our ferry tickets and lunch vouchers. The rest of the day was self directed, which my husband and I enjoyed. We got to walk around the island and it was nice already having lunch set up for us. We had a nice lunch with a decent amount of food. Our only complaint was the ferry ride to Ischia. It was extremely choppy and several people got sea sick. However, it’s no one’s fault that this happened, just be prepared and maybe buy some motion sickness medicine!!

Catch the ferry from Naples and arrive at the port of Ischia, where you will enjoy an included lunch in a typical Italian restaurant. Use your free time to visit the Aragonese Castle, connected to the mainland by a bridge that has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, as it gets washed away by the sea all the time!

Explore the chic village of Sant'Angelo, loved by the rich and famous who want to escape the crowds. Admire the colorful houses of the entirely pedestrianized – and hard to reach – area, and soak up the laid-back Mediterranean vibe of the narrow alleys, ice cream parlors, restaurants and bars with outdoor tables.

Ischia was amazing and worth a trip and taking a taxi to Sant Angelo was the best part. The lunch was a disappointment. It’s was like an Italian version of Faulty Towers. The starter and main course was tasty but dessert a joke with the choice between a children’s ice cream or two plums. With so many restaurants with amazing locations and views it was a shame to have to sit indoors with a view to a shabby backyard. We would have preferred that the day trip was ferry tickets and taxi round the island and found our own lunch
