What to Expect

Learn about the history of the city and see examples of daily life in the olden days as you walk through one of the most preserved ancient cities. This is the most important archaeological site Italy has to offer.
Meet your guide in Naples to take the short drive out to the archeological site of Pompeii. During the ride your guide will provide you with a historical narrative that will set the tone and context for exploring and understanding the city. After arrival, you will move swiftly through ancient roads, allowing you to see ancient homes, stores, temples and public spaces. During your walk, the city will give you glimpses into the social, cultural and political themes that were present in Pompeii.
You’ll note the various construction and decoration of private homes, most notably the magnificent frescoes of the Villa of the Mysteries. Discover the remains of the desperate inhabitants that attempted to escape from impending doom of the eruption, it truly is an emotional experience.

This is a private tour. The price is per party. You pay a flat fee, and may bring up to five more people.
Context walks can be cancelled up to 48 hours prior to the walk with an 85% refund. Within 48 hours all reservations are final and cannot be refunded. Walks are held rain or shine with some variations to accommodate the weather. If you are running late to meet your guide, it is asked that you call to alert the tour company so that they can relay the message to the guide.
No shows are treated as last-minute cancellations and are non-refundable. Cancellations within two business days need to be made directly with local offices by calling them directly (or on the emergency number provided). Cancellations made via email or by calling our U.S. 800 number may not be honored.
