Full description
Mission Estate is one of New Zealand's largest wineries, producing 3,600,000 bottles of wine. You will be offered at least 3 red and 3 white wines throughout this experience, with chardonnay being the leading white wine and Merlot and associate Bordeaux blends the leading reds. The Mission restaurant has a wonderful reputation, and the setting is world class. Your luncheon will be a platter made up of cold meats, cheese, bread, fruit, and a small selection of hot seafood. You will be offered a tasting of 3 local craft beers or 4 local wines at the Urban Winery, and at the conclusion of the tasting a mini tour of the barrel hall will be provided. You will then drive out to the picturesque Esk Valley for the final tasting at Linden Estate. Linden Estate is a boutique winery producing about 60,000 bottles of wine. Linden often has up to 10 wines to taste at once, and this experience offers tour participants great insight into the wines this region can produce. Your tour concludes with a drive out into the vineyard of a private quiet location where you will be provided with a selection of New Zealand cheese and biscuits accompanied by a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. At this point in the tour your guide will provide you with a brief description of grape-growing techniques.

Punctual pick up from our accomodation. Ross advised that the six of us would have one platter between two, but Mission’s chef made two platters instead and it wasn’t even, but don’t think anyone starved. Mission wine tasting informative and generous. Wasn’t impressed with Church Rd and we were all left standing around the counter. Urban was interesting as not well known. Some of the group did the beer tasting, while others tasted the varietals they preferred. Lastly Linden Estate again with an informative explanation on each glass accompanied by some jovial delivery. We were then delivered back to our accommodation and given a lovely souvenir glass. Thank you Ross for a good day.

A really nice trip with a skilled and dedicated guide who had a great knowledge of wine production in the area. Delicious tastings at fine wineries, and ended with a nice gathering out in the vineyards, where they were served cheese accessories with accessories, and of course a nice glass of wine. A really nice ride in 6 hours, with the boss himself behind the wheel!
