Kongma La Pass (5,535 meters / 18,159 feet): The trek often begins in Lukla and takes you through the bustling Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. Kongma La is the first pass you encounter, and it's a strenuous ascent with breathtaking panoramic views of Ama Dablam and other peaks. It's a gateway to the remote and pristine Imja Valley.
Cho La Pass (5,420 meters / 17,782 feet): After descending from Kongma La, you'll venture deeper into the Everest region, reaching Gokyo Valley. Cho La is a challenging pass, often requiring the use of crampons and ropes, especially in winter. It links Gokyo Valley to the Everest Base Camp region, offering stunning views of Gokyo Ri and Ngozumpa Glacier.
Renjo La Pass (5,360 meters / 17,585 feet): Following the trail from Gokyo, you'll make your way to Renjo La. This pass provides breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, and the turquoise Gokyo Lakes. Descending from Renjo La, you'll head towards Thame, a picturesque Sherpa village, and then rejoin the main Everest Base Camp trekking route.
