Day 1: Nairobi – Mount Longonot National Park
Hill climbers and view seekers should not miss the opportunity of climbing to the rim of Longonot (2886 m) in the Rift Valley, a fairly young, dormant volcano that retains the typical shape of these mountains, although it’s far from being a perfect conical shape.
Depart Nairobi early in the morning. Stop at the Rift Valley View point to see the wonders that makes it be called “The Great Rift Valley.” View the Loita Plains and then proceed to Mt. Longonot for 5 hours hike and around the crater and down to the Gate. up the mountain are steep therefore you should carry comfortable hiking shoes, light clothing and drinking water. The hiking will give you such a great experience from top at the crater. You will have a chance to spot for many types of wild animals; plain zebras, giraffes, African leopard and hartebeest which are hard to spot.
At the end of the day check in at the permanent tented camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mount Longonot –Hell’s Gate National park
Leave the campsite in the morning after breakfast for Hell’s Gate. The morning hours are the best for hiking at the parks towering cliffs. Leave the vehicle behind you at a certain point which will be driving behind you in case you get tired or would like to rest. Start with walking on the well-marked trails. After walking for several kilometers, reach the biking center where you shall ride the bikes to the spot where rock climbing will start. Cycling is a great adventure where you will cycle for seven kilometers before resting at the Rangers post. As you walk and bike you shall be able to spot the animals as they graze in the wild, zebras, gazelles as well as the giraffes. After resting, leave the bikes for a walking adventurous safari that takes approximately 3 hours. You will be able to enjoy the spectacular view of the gorges .Discover the hot springs then walk back to pick the bikes and cycle back to the spot where the vehicle will be waiting for you.then drive back to Nairobi.
